Croatia Weather – August
August is the hottest month of the year in Croatia with averages of 23–25 °C and maximums regularly above 35 °C. It is also the month when the Adriatic Sea reaches its highest temperatures: 25–27 °C.
Sunshine remains exceptional (270–330 hours depending on the station) and rainfall is low (41–98 mm). August is the peak of the tourist season — beaches and islands are at their busiest.
With 25 to 29 hot days per month, it is the obvious choice for beach and sun lovers.

- The sea is the warmest of the year — ideal for all water activities
- Remember to stay hydrated in the high heat
- The Dalmatian islands (Hvar, Vis, Mljet) are beautiful but very crowded
- Avoid the hottest hours (1pm–5pm) for outdoor visits
- Book restaurants and excursions in advance in high season
